Soviet peak - backcountry above the Big Almaty lake

Freeride from a beautiful summit with 1,500 metres of vertical descent.

One of the most interesting freeride spots in the mountains around Almaty, Peak Sovietov is located to the South of Big Almaty Lake. It’s a tough climb on the way up, but once you reach the top you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Trans-Ili Alatau range. The vertical descent runs from 4,317 to 2,500 metres.
